A short, fun video shot for the Everglades Foundation for Valentine’s Day 2014 to show what members of the Foundation staff love about America’s Everglades.


In 2012, the Everglades Foundation partnered with Florida Atlantic University to create an Everglades curriculum to be taught in schools across Florida. An advisory committee comprised of teachers, administrators and scientists created these educational materials to be used in the curriculum.

The material was presented to K-12 teachers in late September 2013 for the first time at this workshop, held at Pine Jog Environmental Education Center at FAU, designed to prepare them to pilot the materials in their classrooms.

Miss Florida 2013, Myrrhanda Jones, has a unique backstory. This video was produced as part of her competition for Miss America 2014 to highlight her talents and personality, but also her strength and perseverance during a difficult time in her life.

South Plantation Senior High School has its own Everglades restoration Magnet Program. Each year, sophomore students in the program have the opportunity to go “slogging” in the Everglades. We asked them about the importance of experiencing the ecosystem first-hand.

The South Florida Student Shark Program (SFSSP) is a research and education program aimed at undergraduate and high school students interested in the conservation of the marine environment and one of its most well-known inhabitants: sharks.
